ONDINE BECOMES J SHEEKEY FOR THE OPENING DAY OF THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL

J Sheekey will once again be heading to the Edinburgh Festival this summer for a special appearance at Roy Brett’s acclaimed seafood restaurant Ondine on Friday, 5 August 2011 – the opening day of this year’s Festival. Scottish Chef of the Year (2010), Roy Brett will again join forces with Edinburgh-born Richard Kirkwood, Head Chef of J Sheekey to recreate J Sheekey’s enduringly popular menu for lunch and dinner.

Set in the heart of vibrant Covent Garden, J Sheekey is a fish and seafood restaurant offering the finest fish, oysters and shellfish, as well as seasonal gam, whilst Ondine is the Good Food Guide’s Scottish Restaurant of the Year - a match made in heaven!

Roy Brett said: “Thanks to the Festival, Edinburgh in August is a very special place, so there couldn’t be a more appropriate time to welcome Covent Garden’s best loved theatre restaurant, J Sheekey back to Scotland’s capital. At Ondine, we’ve established a reputation as Scotland’s finest seafood restaurant, serving amazing dishes in beautiful surroundings. When it comes to the standard of food and customer service, we share the same values but for the people of Scotland, this is a rare opportunity to experience the magic of dining at J Sheekey, in the heart of Edinburgh.”.

For the 5th, Richard has created an exclusive A La Carte menu based on his London offer, available for lunch or dinner. Guests will be able to choose from dishes such as oysters with wild boar sausage, plateau de fruits de mer, lobster salad with avocado, pea shoots and bacon, fillet of red mullet with fried zucchini and broad beans, and signature dishes including J Sheekey’s fish pie and fish stew. The renowned Scandinavian iced berries with white chocolate sauce is amongst other popular desserts.

Then, on Saturday, 6 August, Scottish gastronome, comedian and curator of the critically acclaimed Sunday night J Sheekey’s Speakeasies at the J Sheekey Oyster Bar, Hardeep Singh Kohli will be hosting some of the Festival’s best acts over a brunch “J Sheekey Speakeasy” at Ondine from 11.30am until 2pm. Guests will be welcomed with a Ketel One Bloody Mary and a specially devised menu of the finest fish and seafood, whilst enjoying the performances. Tickets are available at £30 per head.
